frequently asked questions

01. What should I/we wear to our shoot?

I have a whole booking guide I made JUST FOR YOU. With all the outfit tips and tricks.

02. When do you usually take photos?

I tend to do most of my shoots in the morning or evening on weekends. We can always work around your schedule and I'm not going to force you to do them any particular time of day. We want to try to avoid harsh sun for the sake of squinty eyes as much as possible but sometimes nap time is more important. I'll work with you to do a time that works for babes, husband's work schedule, mom's beauty routine, and any other prior engagements you have.

03. How will I receive my photos? Digitally? Physically?  Do you do prints?

At present, I deliver all my photos through an online gallery site called Pixie Set. This may change in the future. You will have access to the full gallery and can download photos individually or the whole gallery at once. You can also share the link with all your family and friends so they can download what they like as well. That way you don't have to worry about emailing a million photos to each person - less work for you :)
At this time I don't offer prints but I have places I recommend for printing your photos yourself!

04. When will I receive my photos?

For mini and hour sessions I usually have photos done within a week. For shorter elopements it's about a week.
For weddings it can be 2-8 weeks depending on how busy the season is.

05. Do you travel?

I do! I love to travel (I've been to 12 countries, remember?! Wanting to add more to my list!) whether within Washington, throughout the states, or internationally.
I don't do this often so it really depends on what time of year and what it's for. But never hesitate to ask!

06. What if I already know where I want to take photos?

That's perfect! Mention it in the contact form when you inquire and we can chat more about whether that location will work (90% of the time any location will work).

07. I want family photos with more than just immediate family - do you do large gatherings with extended family?

Yes I can and will! I do charge per person if the gathering is larger than 7 people (the first 7 people are included in the session price).

08. What if I'm uncomfortable in front of the camera?

Trust me when I say a huge part of my role in this is to make you at ease. I'm never going to push you to do something you DON'T want to do. I will do everything I can to make you comfortable, relaxed, and possibly even get you to enjoy your photo being taken. Yeah, that's possible!

09. How do I get my photos to look really amazing?

Well, having a neutral outfit is a great start. Making sure to eat enough and drinking plenty of water the day of is another big help - yes, health plays a factor in looking great. If you're bringing kids you'll want to make sure they have had plenty to eat, maybe a good nap, and go into the shoot knowing that it's going to be fun. While I can do everything in my power to provide a relaxing environment, I can't help people get along or be in a better mood.
I've shown up to too many shoots where 99% of the family is in a bad mood and "not into it." So before your session, chat about photos, chat about expectations; make sure everyone is on the same page. Offering some kind of reward or perk (ice cream? donuts? getting a new movie or toy?) can actually help a ton! If you need more info or suggestions regarding photos with kids or grumpy people, don't hesitate to reach out!

10. What if I want a session that isn't listed in your services offered?

Let's chat! I'm always up for something new. And just because it isn't listed doesn't mean I haven't done it before.

11. What does payment look like for wedding/elopement packages?

I ask for 1/3 of the total cost up front to hold your date. The rest is due the week of your wedding!

12. Will you help me plan my wedding day and photo locations/times?

MOST DEFINITELY. It is one of my biggest joys and jobs to help you come up with the best timeline for your day! I get to help you think of all the things - where you'll get ready, how long we'll have before the guys show up, when to sneak off for golden hour photos. All the details are one of my favorite parts of this job and I can't wait to help you map it all out.

13. How many photos do we get?

For weddings I tend to shoot 80-100/an hour. For sessions it varies hugely. I like to give an expectation of 70+ because I never ever leave out anything that you might cherish.
